BULA! That means hello, in Fijian. What a wonderful warm welcome Caroline, (@sweetcarolinaj), and I had! No, not just because it was 80+ degrees out, but felt like 100+ with the humidity, it was because of all the locals working at the Fiji Marriott Resort Momi Bay. As they greet you with a big smile and a refreshing cup of local ice tea, they say “Welcome Home!” The employees truly make you feel instantly at home, and that is exactly what you want, a home away from home.
When selecting your room, you will see that there are plenty of styles to choose from and each designed to look like a traditional Fijian hut. While on this trip, I had the privilege of experience 2 of the Marriott types of rooms, the Deluxe Lagoon View and an Over Water Bungalow.
The Deluxe Lagoon room is great for people with families or if you don’t plan on spending much time in your room. They are great for families because they have the ability to have adjoin one another. The size of the room is perfect for those who want to spend all their time out in the sun swimming in the ocean or at the pool right outside their sliding glass door. I loved having this room because we would leave our valuables in the safe and our sliding glass door unlocked so we could go in and out as we please. For those of you who do not trust anyone on this planet and don’t want to leave their door unlocked, no worries, the pool is a quick walk from your front door. This room is fully equipped with a flat screen tv, double headed shower, bathtub, dining area, and ours had a very comfortable king sized bed.
THIS IS THE ULTIMATE ROOM! Honestly, I wish I had this room the entire trip, and I would have never left. This room has everything you will ever need. Just like the Deluxe Lagoon Villa, it has a flat screen tv, a double headed shower, and king sized bed. What makes this room so special is how massive this room is as well as it being over the gorgeous teal colored lagoon. The placement of the bath tub in the middle of the bathroom, the walk in closet, and large lounge area make you feel as if you are in your own apartment. My favorite part of the Over Water Bungalow was the deck and round chaise. I took many naps on that chaise and would hop in the ocean when I needed to cool off from the hot Fijian sun. If you are a bride to be and looking for a place to spend your honeymoon, the Fiji Marriott Resort Momi Bay is exactly what you and your lover need! This room is beyond romantic, where the two of you will order room service every night and never want to leave the room. To be honest, I’ve never ordered so much room service before because I wanted to enjoy every second I could in this room.
Speaking of food, there are so many delicious restaurants and bars on the property. From fresh fish to Italian, the Marriott has it all! There are a few main restaurants and a bakery with a fresh fruit smoothie bar.
For all you fish lovers, this is the most beautiful restaurant on the property! The open walls looking out to the gorgeous ocean is breath taking. Every night you get a gorgeous view of that stunning Fiji sunset. This restaurant is located next door to the adults only infinity pool.
For breakfast, enjoy a beautiful buffet with fresh local fruits, fresh pressed juices, an omelet bar, pastry station, and coffee bar. This massive over water hut is a great spot for not only breakfast, but for dinner. This dinner menu is a little more ethnic, with a few Indian and Thai styled dishes. Attached to this building is their bakery and smoothie bar, perfect for quick and refreshing bites.
If you are in the mood for delicious pizza and pasta, be sure to make a reservation at the Lagoon House & Bar. During the day, swim up to their pool bar and have yourself a snack and a tropical cocktail. At dinner enjoy a casual romantic evening overlooking the beautiful Over Water Bungalows.
Aside from swimming in the gorgeous teal colored, warm water ocean, you can cool off in one of the Marriott Resorts many pools. There is the adults only infinity pool that over looks the ocean, located by the Fish Bar. You could swim in the community pool that is attached to the Lagoon Swim-Up Bar. To the right of this pool is the children’s pool, that is shallow and has has a fun splash fountain for them to play with. Also, there is a fun little kids playground ad daycare center right next door to the gym. Mommy and daddy can get a little work out in, while their children play!
No resort is complete unless there is a spa! The Quan Spa is luxurious and truly relaxing. There are 6 treatment rooms, 4 singles and 2 couples, with private plunge pools to relax in post treatments and showers. There is a long list of many different types of treatments that the Quan Spa offers. I requested their Quan Signature Massage and I highly recommend the same for you! It was a 60 minutes massage with a herbal heating pad. I thought I would die with the heating pad, considering its been so hot outside, but truly it was relaxing and I didn’t want her to remove it! It added a little weight too, which I love. I sleep with a weight blanket at home, so I 100% knocked out for a moment during this massage. They use Pure Fiji products made of all natural ingredients from the island. I walked away fully relaxed, smelling great, and feeling amazing!
Not only is this hotel overall just amazing, but I have so much appreciation for what they are doing to save and protecting Fiji and our planet. Fiji Marriott focuses on sustainability in more ways than one. There are refill distilled water stations located all over the property helping to reduce the amount of plastic waste. In every room there are recycling bins, as well as throughout the property. Every time you order a drink, it comes with ha paper straw. In each hotel room, there is an on and off power switch for each outlet, that way if you leave your cord plugged in, it will not use up power. Fiji Marriott plans to plant mangroves all along the property shoreline, which help protect damages from storms, flooding, as well as maintaining water quality. Also, they plan on bringing turtles back to this side of the Fiji island. The Fiji Marriott has truly done their part in reducing their carbon footprint.
If you’re the type of person who can sit still on a beach for a week and need something to do, be sure to ask the front desk for an activities schedule. They host morning hikes, basket making, beach volleyball, and so much more! Aside from these activities, there is a company that they co-work with that have charted boats, jet skis, paddle boards, snorkeling, and they just purchased a catamaran!
Thank you so much for reading this blog! Be sure to stay tuned for my blog about chartering a boat through the Fiji Marriott. It was a fun filled day of swimming, laughing, and exploring!
