Welcome back friends! In case you missed my last travel guide on Fiji Marriott Resort Momi Bay, be sure to click here and read all about this amazing tropical resort! After you check in, be sure to head on over to the Water Sports Activity Center and book your excursion during your stay. As much as I love sitting on a beach, I need a little activity and it was PERFECT having something on site. You can charter many different types of boats, paddle board, jet ski, etc. They truly have thought of every single water activity you could do and more! Caroline (@sweetcarolinaj) and I decided to reserve a charter boat for midweek of our stay, and it was a great idea! Sure we were a little ambitious picking the 7 hour excursion, but they were able to accommodate us. What we did was make it a 4-5hr excursion, and then the next day we took the jet skis out for a spin. This was the ultimate idea!!!
You can create your own excursion when you higher a private charter, but we asked for their advice since there is SO MUCH to see around the main island. Our captain was the best, he knew of all the local spots, and all the must see tourist locations. These were some of my favorite spots, and a MUST SEE on your next trip to Fiji.
Gave you ever seen the film called Castaway, with Tom Hanks and ever wonder where they filmed it? Well, it was filmed in Fiji! What is so interesting about the island that they selected, is that it really isn’t deserted, there are islands all around it. There is one side of the island that looks out to nothing, but ocean, where as the other side has tons of island near and far. It was very cool to see how the directer created a perspective to make it seem deserted. Plus, it was pretty fun to see the “Help Me” sign made out of coconuts sit sitting on the island form the film.
I’ve always wanted to check out a sandbar before, and there is one right in the middle of all the islands in Fiji. It’s a quick stop, but worth it! You get dropped off and can truly feel deserted. The white sand and teal colored water is magical all wrapped around the sandbar.
THIS PLACE IS A MUST VISIT!! You could truly spend all day here if you wanted too! MalaMala Beach Club has everything you could imagine and more. you could reserve a day bed by the infinity pool, you could snorkel, paddle board, jump off of the helicopter pad into the ocean, have a delicious lunch over looking the teal colored ocean, and sooooo much more! What’s nice about this place is they give you a card, like a credit car, you place all of your orders on this card and get charged at the end of your stay. Rather than swiping your card every time, this was an efficient way of staying organized. I could have spent all day at this magical day club.
When getting your bag ready for your excursion be sure to pack the following:
Lots of water
Snacks
Tons of sunscreen (you need to apply a million times a day or you’ll end up sunburnt like me…see photo bellow)
A big sun hat
Towels
A cover up
Camera!
Since we cut our day 1 excursion short by 2-3 hours, we were able to use the credit towards something else that the Fiji Marriott Resort offered at their Water Sports Activity Center. There were so many fun options, but Caroline and I agreed that we wanted a little need-for-speed! This was another fun way to cruise around the island and see more that we didn’t get to explore the day before.
